How GSAA collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
The Ghana Sociological and Anthropological Association ("GSAA", "we", "us", "our") is a professional association registered in Ghana. Our registered address is: Department of Sociology, University of Ghana, Legon, P.O. Box LG 65, Accra, Ghana.
We collect personal information when you:
The types of data we collect include: name, email address, telephone number, institutional affiliation, academic qualifications, research interests, payment information (processed securely by third-party processors), and correspondence with us.
We process your data on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (membership and event registration), your consent (newsletter subscriptions), and our legitimate interests in operating as a professional association.
We do not sell your personal data. We may share data with: service providers who process data on our behalf (e.g., email platforms, event registration systems), and co-organising institutions for specific events. All third-party processors are contractually required to protect your data.
Member data is retained for the duration of membership and up to 5 years thereafter for legal and archival purposes. Event registration data is retained for 3 years. Contact form data is retained for 2 years.
You have the right to: access your personal data, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, withdraw consent at any time, and lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission of Ghana. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@gsaa.org.gh.
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or destruction. However, no internet transmission is completely secure.
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be notified to members by email. Continued use of our services following notification constitutes acceptance.
